Bring them just as they are. Leave every coin exactly as you found it, in whatever it has been living in, and do not worry about putting anything in order first.

Every coin you bring lands in one of two piles. Some are worth more to a collector than the metal in them. The rest are worth their gold or silver, and those follow the day’s market.
We make that sort out loud, at the counter, and explain which is which, so nothing rare goes out the door at melt value. If a coin is in the wrong pile, you will hear why it belongs in the other one.
