Do you buy broken, damaged, or tarnished pieces?
Yes. Broken chains, single earrings, bent rings, scratched bars, and tarnished sterling are all bought on their metal content. Tarnish is a surface reaction and does not change the value of the silver underneath.
Could inherited coins or jewelry be worth more than their metal value?
Often, yes. Key-date and low-mintage coins, professionally graded coins, signed designer jewelry, and luxury watches can all be worth considerably more than the gold or silver in them. Bring in the whole collection and we will sort out what is scrap and what is not, piece by piece.
What should I bring with me?
A valid government-issued photo ID, which is required for any precious metal transaction. If you have original receipts, certificates, appraisals, or packaging, bring them along. They can help with identification, but they are not required to get an offer.
Should I clean my coins or jewelry before coming in?
No. Cleaning a coin can permanently damage its surface and reduce its collector value, and polishing jewelry does nothing for its weight or purity. Bring everything in exactly as you found it.
Is there a fee or any obligation for an evaluation?
No. Evaluations are free and there is no obligation to sell. We test and weigh your items, explain what you have, and make an offer. If you would rather hold on to a piece, you take it home.
How is my offer calculated?
It starts with the day's spot price for gold, silver, or platinum, then the purity of each piece (10K, 14K, 18K, sterling, and so on) and its weight. Like every dealer we buy a little under spot, which covers refining and the risk of the market moving, but our low overhead keeps that margin smaller than most. Coins, designer pieces, and watches can carry value beyond their metal, and we price that in too.

Yes. The showroom carries fine jewelry, gold and silver coins, and bullion for collectors and investors. If you are looking for something specific, call ahead and we will tell you what is in the case.
